Belfair State Park

August  24-27, 2011

Who: Dianne, Joshua, Nora, Cole, Casey, Elsa, Nora, Sam

Nice park on the river.  Sites by the beach are nicer and bigger.  Area we were in, the sites are very small and close together.

Playground is nice, but small.  Swimming in the river was great for the kids.

We had a tire blowout on the way home.  Luckily, we were only a few miles from a Les Schwab and they didn't close for another hour.

Naches

August 5-7, 2011
Forest Service Campground, Naches

Who: Eric, Dianne, Joshua, Nora, Cole, Casey, the Jensens

No hook-ups for water, pit toilets. But, really nice for rural camping.  You can collect firewood and make huge fires.

Best for a group as there is nothing for the kids to do.

Queen Bed

The motorhome came with twin beds in the back.  Our original plan was to remove all the upper cabinets and put in bunks.  Eric and I decided we weren't interested in sleeping in the overhead cab and scrapped that idea.

We took out the twin mattresses and nightstand between them.  Put down some plywood and put a queen mattress on top.  The motorhome was wider than the mattress, but that just gave us more room to store books and things.  The big space under the bed worked out great to store all the camping chairs and toys.

Lincoln Rock State Park

July 5-8, 2011
Lincoln Rock State Park, Wenathee

Who: Dianne, Joshua, Nora, Cole, Casey

Hookup sites are huge, grassy and nice.  A bit of a walk to the playground and swimming, but not too bad.  The playground was excellent.  Swimming area was nice - but freezing.  Didn't slow the kids down though.

The standard hookups are closer to the swimming and playground and are much shadier.

We also visited the Aplets and Cotlets factory, and the Chelan County Museum and Pioneer Village.

Potholes State Park

June 17-19, 2011
Site #4

Who: Eric, Dianne, Joshua, Nora, Cole, Casey, other Olive Crest foster families

First trip in our new motorhome.

Hook up sites are nice and big.  Play area is great.  No swimming, despite what the website says.  The mosquitos were horrid!

New dinette for the Motorhome

The motorhome came with a couch and rickety table and two easy chairs.  With as many kids as we have, that wasn't going to work. Eric ripped it all out in order to put in a dinette and a couch.  Once he started removing things, it was apparent there originally was a dinette.

The new dinette was probably massively overbuilt, but was definitely sturdy enough for kids to jump all over it.

I ordered new cushions from FoamByMail.com.  They came in this relatively tiny box.  Once opened, it was all the cushions for the dinette and couch, all compressed.

As I am writing this 6 years later, I can safely say that the couch never got finished. Originally, because we couldn't figure out a good design for it to open to a bed.  Then lack of time. Then, we just really enjoyed the extra floor space.

New Flooring for the Motorhome

Few things are nastier than 20+ year old carpet.  It needed to go.

We got the bulk of the new laminate down quickly.  The back parts by the bedroom took a bit longer.  It was super nice being able to sweep out the dirt every day.

New Curtains for the Motorhome

The curtains were pretty nasty, so I immediately ripped them out and made new ones.
